Coach Brian Dobie Reach for Excellence

After 50 remarkable seasons of coaching football in Manitoba, University of Manitoba Bisons Football Head Coach Brian Dobie is retiring at the end of the 2024 season. Coach Dobie’s incredible career includes 29 seasons with the Bisons and 21 years at Churchill High School.

Coach Dobie says his greatest joy over the past fifty years “has been working alongside the thousands of players that I had the absolute honour to share this wonderful lifelong experience with. How fortunate I’ve been to go to work every day surrounded by a hundred young student-athletes who are motivated, driven, and enthusiastic as they pursue their academic and athletic goals.”

To celebrate Coach Dobie’s legacy, a “Reach for Excellence” fund has been established to support the future of the Bisons Football Program, including purchasing new equipment, assistant coaches, locker room and weight room facility upgrades, additional recruiting expenses, and other program needs as determined by the next head coach.

“This was my dream job, a position that I’d wanted my whole adult and professional life.” says Dobie. “A fund like this would have been ideal, and would have helped us be more consistently successful. My parting gift to the next head coach and to all the future Bisons is twofold; one – to establish this fund. And two – to ask you to give generously to build this fund to help future Bisons football teams ‘Reach for Excellence’”. Please consider making a donation in Coach Dobie’s honour.
