Help Transform Squash in Manitoba: Support New State-of-the-Art Squash Courts at UM
We’re on the verge of a groundbreaking transformation in Manitoba’s squash scene, and you can be a part of it! The University of Manitoba (UM), in collaboration with Squash Manitoba, is bringing a new era of squash to the province with the development of world-class squash courts on the Fort Garry campus.
This exciting project will create an inclusive, community-driven space where students, alumni, families, and aspiring athletes can come together to enjoy squash—one of the most dynamic and fast-growing sports. With squash making its Olympic debut at the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, there has never been a better time to invest in the future of squash in Manitoba and at UM.
Why this project matters
The vision: A world-class squash facility in south Winnipeg
This is more than just an upgrade; it’s a complete transformation of the squash experience in Winnipeg. The renovation will feature four international-standard squash courts with glass-back walls for an open, spectator-friendly environment. The new space will include:
Designed to meet World Squash Federation guidelines, the upgraded facility will serve as a premier venue for local, provincial, and national squash events. It’s a game-changer for Manitoba’s squash community.
Inclusive programs for all skill levels
Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned competitor, this facility is designed for you. The upgraded squash courts will offer junior programs, beginner lessons, leagues & tournaments, specialty programs, and coaching and development. With over 1,800 hours of programming annually, it will provide unparalleled opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.
Be part of the change: Support the future of squash in Manitoba
The transformation is already underway, but we need your help to complete the development of the courts. Your contribution will help Squash Manitoba fulfill its commitment of $550,000 towards the $2.6 million project to bring this vision to life. It will also help ensure that squash is accessible to everyone and will create a legacy of health, competition, and community spirit in Manitoba.
The projected completion date is August 2025 – we can’t wait for you to see the difference this project will make for the entire community.
