The Price Student-Managed Investment Fund.
Experiential learning is an essential element of an exceptional student experience and one of the cornerstones for students in the Asper School of Business. Through the creation of the Price Student-Managed Investment Fund, our undergraduate finance students will have the chance to put their knowledge into practice. Students will gain hands-on investment experience that prepares them to succeed in their future careers, whether as business analysts, portfolio managers or investment bankers.
The fund will have immediate and lasting impact; participating students will gain valuable skills to equip them for the workforce and the dividends earned by the fund will be reinvested into the Asper School for the benefit of all students.
The Price Student-Managed Investment Fund program was launched with both the financial support and the organizational assistance of the Associates of the Asper School of Business. Since then, the Associates of the Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba alumni and others donors, including the Price Group of Companies, have provided further donations to the program. In recognition of the 2024 International Distinguished Entrepreneur honouree, Dr. Gerry Price [BSc(ME)/70, MSc/72, LLD(Hon)/17, PhD (Lehigh University)], UM is proud to name the fund in his name.
Always passionate about supporting the University of Manitoba, Dr. Price is one of the UM’s most generous benefactors. He was a valued member of UM’s President’s Campaign Team, he served as Chair of the Manufacturing Division of fundraising for the Engineering & Information Technology Complex, was a founder and Board Member of the Friends of Engineering (Manitoba) Inc., the Partners Program in the Faculty of Architecture and The Associates of the I.H. Asper School of Business.
Dr. Price is the Chairman and CEO of Price Industries, APEL Extrusions, AROW Global and Twa Panel Systems.
Dr. Price was honoured with the International Distinguished Entrepreneur Award on May 30, 2024.
